Download Parent Reports

This example is just for the Parent Reports but can work for any reports you need to run from Renaissance.

  1. Under VIEW REPORTS click Reports All available reports:
  2. Under Parent and Other Reports click Star Parent Report:
  3. Click Change Assignment Type... and select the test to run reports for.  Typically K-1 will take the Star Early Literacy Enterprise Assessment (English) and 2-8 will take Star Math Enterprise Assessment (English) and Star Reading Enterprise Assessment (English):
  4. Click Change Students... and select the students to run the report for. You may select a single student, several students, or the entire class. Typically you should select the entire class:
  5. Leave Demographics as All Demographics
  6. Leave the Reporting Period, Sort Students By, and Language at the current school year (2020-2021 shown below), Last Name and English:
  7. Check the boxes for Show Grade Equivalent and leave the others unchecked and click Update Report to see a preview:
  8. If the report looks correct, on the top right of the page click PDF:
  9. Click View PDF:
  10. The PDF should open in a new tab.  On the top right, click the download arrow and give it a title you will remember and save it to your computer:

Split PDF Pages

Now that you have your PDF you may need to separate the individual pages to email home.

These are three ways to accomplish the same thing and there are many more besides. Use what makes the most sense to you! These are ordered from least to most technical and most to least clicking.
  1. Run Reports for Each Student
    1. Instead of downloading your whole class in Step 2, select each student one at a time and run them individually.  This is best when you only need a few student's reports, probably not the entire class!
  2. Open in Preview and Drag each Page
    1. Open the PDF from Step 2 in Preview on your Mac
    2. In the View menu click Thumbnails:
    3. Click and drag each thumbnail on the left onto your desktop or a folder:
    4. Rename the PDF you just created to the name of the student:
  3. Use a PDF Splitting Tool
    1. Go to https://pdfcandy.com/split-pdf.html (there are many, many websites and programs that do this. I chose this one because it seems easy to use but feel free to try others out!)
    2. Click Add file and select the PDF you downloaded or drag and drop it onto the window:
    3. It will load your PDF and show you a preview of each page.  All the pages are selected by default and the setting at the bottom of the page should say Split into sing-page files.  Click Split PDF:
    4. It should say Done. Click the large green button that says Download file:
    5. It will start to download on the bottom left of your screen (you are using Google Chrome, right?).  After it downloads, click the file to unzip it:
    6. Open the folder it creates and rename each PDF to the name of the student:
