Adding comments to a course grade will show up for the parents and students in their PowerSchool portal and will be reflected on the PowerSchool-generated report cards.
There are several areas for comments on the report cards depending on the grade:
- Homeroom teachers should enter comments in their homeroom class for each student
- For classes with traditional grades (grades 5-8), each subject-area teacher should enter trimester comments for each of their classes
Changes to your comments will not be reflected on the report cards until Peggy or Nathan stores the trimester grades. Peggy typically does this several times a day in the week leading up to report cards being sent out but please ask if you need this done while getting them ready.
These comments are immediately available to parents and students in their portal once you save them!
It is highly recommended to save often when entering written comments in case there is an issue when saving!
Directions
- Log in to PowerTeacher Pro and go to your class
- On the left, click Grading -> Scoresheet (Note that you can get to this from any screen showing the course final grade):
- On the top right, select the current term:
- In the GRADE column, click the score to enter a comment:
- On the right side of the screen, enter the comment for that student (note that the comments in the screenshot below are only the Conduct and Effort percentages, yours will likely need to be more verbose!):
The comment box will let you enter more characters than can fit on the report card. Try starting with 250-300 characters and adjust as needed.
- Click Save when you are done entering grades and comments
- If you would like more room to type or to use the comment bank, click the speech bubble on the top right corner of the screen:
